Asset Management

Functionality, Control, Ease of Use

Managing your organisation's IT assets is a big enough challenge in itself, so no one needs the additional challenge of wrestling with the very software that should assist you. Tams has been designed with this in mind, designed from the off to give you the key functionality you need, without the complex overheads you don't.

Functionality:
It's essential that you keep control of your company's IT equipment, from general asset tracking purposes, through to ensuring the maintenance, stability and interoperability of hardware and software, to fulfilling the legal requirements of  license compliance and to ensure the correct and efficient use of your company's resources, Tams provides the information you need to meet these targets.

Gathering the core per device inventory detailed, including full hardware, serial no., software, patch, usage  and core performance information, Tams then builds on this to provide the richest information source possible:
  • License level monitoring
    • Easily set up and maintained
    • Graphical and textual report showing usage and highlighting violations.
    • Spot license violations in seconds, but also spot over purchased/under utilised licenses just as quickly.
    • See software installed but not in use (or in use but where there is a better/cheaper alternative given the usage of that software)
  • Hardware, Software and Patch information at a glace
    • Track hardware distribution, obsolete hardware, none standard hardware instantly.
    • See when (or if) software was last used on a device and how many times the software has been used.
      • Quickly spot areas of potential saving via underutilised and or over licensed software
    • Quickly spot illicit or none standard software
    • Highlight devices missing critical patches in seconds
  • All Cross referenced
    • For example clicking on a piece of software, or a patch etc, in a devices detail report will show other systems using that software or patch
    • All graphs can be drilled down to see the underlying data.
  • Virtual Views
    • Automatically broken down by User, Enterprise and Department (AD Business Unit) levels.
    • Continuing the Tams One for All approach of a single system meeting all it's users needs, the Tams Inventory system will present complete virtual views of the collected information, so if your looking at a certain PC from the perspective of a certain department, then selecting the option to show other PC's of the same type, or with the same piece of software, will show a virtual view of just PC's in that department sharing the same selected feature or software etc. So it appears that each department has their own Inventory system (with the Enterprise view being available to see the overall picture). You can even tie down permissions so departments only see their own information.
  • With the ability to build up user defined web based queries based upon any data in the system (i.e. show all systems with an element of software installed that needs upgrading, but that do not have sufficient memory or CPU to meet the requirements to run the upgraded version).
  • And with distributed collection points so you can manage the largest Enterprise with ease.
Ease of Use:  From it's initial ease of deployment....

Inventory Discovery
1, Discover network.
Simply enter the address range you wish to discover, enter the credentials to allow the system to discover  (e.g. a domain logon) and hit discover. The asynchronous, multi threaded discovery will plough through the largest networks in minutes.

Inventory Discovery

2, Roll out agents.
Pick the devices (or select All) that you want agents placed on, then hit deploy, no more work needed. Tams will collect the inventory, identify product usage, break down all statistics by department from then on.

3, Done!

To the preconfigured web site pages and reports:

To the simple Software deployment and licensing abilities:

The Tams Inventory system makes managing your Windows server and desktop environment a piece of cake.

Tams has a comprehensive inventory tool to gather detailed hardware and software inventory and usage information (as well as basic performance statistics) for the whole pc based enterprise. The Inventory element has some key features including:
  • The ability to show and cross reference detailed hardware, software and path information
  • The ability to show when (or if) software was last used on a device and how many times the software has been used.
  • The ability to show enterprise usage figures and also break down all statistics by business unit.
  • The ability to apply and report on license limits and automatically show systems with software installed but not in use (or in use but where there is a better/cheaper alternative given the usage of that software)
  • The ability to build queries up based upon software and hardware criteria (i.e. show all systems with an element of software installed that needs upgrading, but that do not have sufficient memory or CPU to meet the requirements to run the upgraded version).
